Welcome - Croeso

Carmarthenshire is the secret garden of Wales. Its lush green countryside, rolling hills, historic castles and miles of golden beaches are only part of its appeal. The rural heart of Wales in the west, the urban convenience of Llanelli, the county's biggest town in the east and the hills in the north all contribute to a holiday experience that will leave you enchanted and delighted.

The historic market town of Carmarthen built around the Towy river gives its name to the county. In the Welsh language, Carmarthen translates as Caerfyrddin - Caer means castle and Fyrddin or Myrddin is the Welsh name for Merlin. The town has long been associated with the legendary Merlin the magician who attended the court of King Arthur. There are those who say that Merlin was the inspiration for the character of Gandalf, the wizard in the blockbuster movies of The Lord of the Rings trilogy and of course in the books on which the movies are based.

Land of Merlin offers holiday cottages and apartments in all corners of Carmarthenshire and you're never far away from a host of opportunities to explore the rich culture and heritage of this wonderful Welsh county.
